Sunday Afternoon Jam Sessions: Renegades by X Ambassadors

My Sunday Afternoon Jam this weekend is all about Renegades by X Ambassadors. And feeling grateful for all that I have. http://diaryofadomesticdiva.com

X Ambassadors sing Renegades, one of the best songs of 2015 (in my opinion) Photo: billboard.com

I have to say, I love a great, catchy tune. I mean, isn’t that the point? And I don’t mean those annoying dance-club-head-bopping-stuck-in-your-head catchy tunes. I’m talking about about a really great song. Add a social message or meaning in there and I’m sold. From the first time I heard X Ambassadors’ “Renegades”, I was hooked.

What I really love about this song, particularly after watching the video, is seeing the self-described underdogs shine with unmistakable talent; understanding how they enjoy life differently, simply “through another lens”.

I am very blessed and, today being Canadian Thanksgiving, I am even more grateful for all that I have: my family, a supportive husband (who can cook a turkey like nobody’s business), four pretty cool kids (who, so far, haven’t completely ruined the Thanksgiving mood, though they seem to be trying), relatively good health (this lady needs to catch some serious Zzzz’s) and amazing friendships (you all know who you are).

If you’d like to sing along, I’ve copied the lyrics down below. Trust me. You will want to sing along.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Renegades by X Ambassadors

“Renegades”

Run away-ay with me
Lost souls in revelry
Running wild and running free
Two kids, you and me

And I said hey
Hey, hey, hey
Living like we’re renegades
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey
Living like we’re renegades
Renegades, renegades

Long live the pioneers
Rebels and mutineers
Go forth and have no fear
Come close and lend an ear

And I said hey
Hey, hey, hey
Living like we’re renegades
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey
Living like we’re renegades
Renegades, renegades

So, all hail the underdogs
All hail the new kids
All hail the outlaws
Spielbergs and Kubricks

It’s our time to make a move
It’s our time to make amends
It’s our time to break the rules
Let’s begin…

And I said hey
Hey, hey, hey
Living like we’re renegades
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey
Living like we’re renegades
Renegades, renegades
